Hook Me Up!

Mason County PUD No. 3 has extended its fiber optic network to many areas of its service territory. If you are interested in making the connection, PUD 3 suggests that your confirm fiber availability.

You may email our staff at or call them at 360-426-8255, ext. 5882 to determine if the fiber optic network has available connections in your area or if a line extension will be necessary.

If a connection is available, the process of getting online is easy:

  • Read information about the PUD’s fiber optic network and call the PUD to determine if your location is fiber-ready or may require consideration of a line extension. If fiber is available in your area, call one of the authorized retailers to start the connection process.
  • Choose a retail provider for fiber optic services. Connection & monthly fees may vary by retailer.
  • Submit an application. Depending on fiber availability, an application fee, setup fee (billed to the retail service provider), and line extension charges may be required.

Community Advocacy Program

If connection to the fiber optic network is not available, you may contact Mason County PUD No. 3 to learn if your community may be eligible to participate in a community advocacy program.

Participation in such a program may speed deployment of the fiber optic network to your community or business area.

Criteria to be used in the evaluation of extending such service should include:

  • Proximity to fiber backbone
  • Are there comparable services already available
  • Overhead electrical service, or adequate underground distribution capacity
  • Clearly defined area
  • A certain level of user density.
  • A certain level of commitment for connection from potential users in the area

For those areas that do not meet the criteria outlined above, Local Utility Districts, wireless pilot projects, public private partnerships or other methods may be avenues to serve interested customers with broadband services.
